Chesterfield Heritage Day Plein Air Event 2014

Saturday, October 18, in the Village of Crosswicks


     Artists are invited to paint a scene within historic Crosswicks Village between August 18th and October 18th; however the one painting submitted for judging must be painted on Saturday, October 18th   between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  Judging will take place at 4:00 p.m., and cash awards will total $1000.  Paintings will be exhibited at a special reception from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., where artists will sell their paintings of historic Crosswicks to the public with 30% of the sale designated as a donation to the Chesterfield Township Historical Society.   The Historical Society will handle all purchase payments, and will provide payment to artists within 10 days of the sale.  An online exhibition of all the plein air paintings from the event will be displayed on this website.

Chesterfield Heritage Plein Air Schedule:

August 18 – October 17          Artists may visit, plan, sketch and paint artwork within designated boundaries of historic Crosswicks village

September 15   Registration deadline

October 18

     9-10 am    Artists submit registration and have painting or paper stamped at 2 Front St., Crosswicks

     10am - 4pm    Painting within Crosswicks Village.  Artists must bring artwork to the registration area by 4pm.

     5pm    Judging

     6pm    Winners announced

     6-9pm   Plein Air art exhibit and reception where artists sell paintings of historic Crosswicks





Guidelines:  
  • The artwork should showcase the historic buildings, streetscapes and/or landscapes of Crosswicks village.

  • The artist may paint more than one piece during the two month period leading up to October 18th, but must paint one painting the day of the plein air on October 18th, and submit that painting for judging.

  • The artist may sell additional paintings of historic Crosswicks at the exhibition and reception on the evening of October 18th, provided that 30% of the sale price is donated to the Chesterfield Township Historical Society.  Society will handle the sales of paintings, and will provide payment to artists within 10 days of the sale.

  • Artists must submit a registration and have their canvas or paper stamped on the day of the PleinAir.

  • Contestants may only submit one piece of artwork painted in Crosswicks Village on October 18, 2014 for judging.

  • Artwork must be two-dimensional.

  • The maximum entry size is 24 inches by 24 inches, not including matting.

  • There is no entry fee for this event.

  • Artists must provide their own supplies and equipment, including art supplies, and if desired an easel, ready-made frame or mat.

Liability  

          The Chesterfield Township Historical Society will make every effort to protect all submitted artwork from damage or loss, but the society cannot be held liable for any damage or loss of artwork submitted for judging.  The Chesterfield Township Historical Society reserves the right to publish for publicity reproductions of the entries.
